You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Today is Cinco de Mayo and It's time to celebrate all the cartoons and the characters that call Mexico home!

Whether it's The Three Caballeros, Speedy Gonzales, or anything in that region.

What cartoons are set in Mexico?

Well, there was "Pedro And Lorenzo," a long forgotten short about a boy and calf who are separated when young, but reunited in the bull ring as adults. I was never able to see the humor in it. Then there's "Bull Fright," a Casper cartoon in which he and Pancho the calf team up to save Pancho's papa from a matador. Plus. if you check out the Hanna-Barbera forum, you'll find a thread about HB cartoons set in Mexico.

Depatie-Freleng had a series called Tijuana Toads--basically two toads/frogs from Mexico. Due to racial stereotyping--when first broadcast on tv, the characters' names, voices and even the background music was changed and they became the Texas Toads. The undubbed version is so much funnier if you ask me.

There are two Warner Bros shorts "Two Crows from Tacos" and "Crows Feat" which feature two crows named Manuel and Jose--these two crows were the inspiration for the Tijuana Toads.
There is a Daffy Duck short called "Mexican Joyride" in which he takes a trip to Mexico and ends up fighting a bull. I actually finally saw this short on the internet when in college as I actually never saw this one on tv--except for a small clip from it on the short lived Daffy Duck Show on Kids WB.

The last Looney Tunes Short "Senorella and the Glass Hurache" is a Mexican take on Cinderella.

Happily Ever After's Fairy Tales for Every Child had some fairy tales told with a Mexican flavor to them such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Robinita Hood, and Hansel and Gretel.

Animator Manuel (Manny) Moreno, who became the backbone of Lantz's studio in the 30s, finally leaving to work at MGM, started his own studio in Mexico in 1943. Sadly he only completed one short, featuring his character Pelon, before his backers got cold feet and - er - backed out.

So I nominate that short - Me Voy De Cacería.

    Here's two Mexican-American animators...

Bill Melendez, who was born in Mexico.
Phil Roman, though American, was born with Mexican parents.

Speedy Gonzales is the best character from Looney Tunes!
