    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

Found 16mm Film in attic. OH NO

    I'm afraid I have some tragic news. I found a wooden box loaded with 16mm film cartoons, Walter Lantz,Terry Toons, Disney, and a few unknowns, In my parents attic. When I opened the box, the smell of vinegar came pouring out. I'm afraid that means the film is worthless and should be thrown away. It's impossible to save it? Some of the individual boxes the film is stored in are in good shape (some has pictures of Andy Panda, Mighty Mouse, etc.). Would it be a good Idea to keep the boxes, or are they worthless too? The films are from a 1950 Castle Films catalog.

    ~ Greetings! Don't toss these in the trash!!! Take them to your local SamsClub or equivalent superstore with a photo department and have them transferred to a DVD. You can fit about an hour of old cartoons on each DVD for about $20. Get rid of the decomposed film and save the film boxes for display. They look real nice in those little shadow box frames. Most importantly, this stuff is getting increasingly hard to find and also must have some real special memories for you coming from your folks attic. Nice find!
