    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Ian McDonald, formerly of the bands King Crimson and Foreigner, died on February 9, 2022, at age 75.

    He co-founded King Crimson in 1968. They recorded several albums, but had no hits here in America. His other band Foreigner, formed in 1976, is a completely different story.

    Foreigner's string of hits began in 1977 with "Feels Like The First Time," and it was all uphill from there. Their hits continued into the 1980's, and included the classics "Cold As Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Double Vision," "Urgent," "Waiting For A Girl Like You," "Juke Box Hero," "I Want To Know What Love Is," and many others. The band went through many personnel changes, but Ian was always there through thick and thin.

    RIP, Mr. McDonald. You'll always be a juke box hero. :(

    For a moment I had thought that Lou Gramm had passed away. Good thing he's still alive and well.

    Ian McDonald will be missed for sure.

    Absolutely. Ian McDonald was a force of nature in that 1969 lineup. He would return to add some vital sax tracks to 1974's Red.

    Once McDonald and Lake left...King Crimson NEVER got that magic back. Those are one of those bands that had a great album...but went downhill from there. The only other band I can think of that had this fate is Hootie and the Blowfish.

    The band would indeed go in a different direction(s), but it wasn't downhill. That first album would be the most popular.

    But...what if Bryan Ferry did join King Crimson? Would they go in a very different direction?
