    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Was originally part of The Godzilla Power Hour, then went solo during the early months of 1979. And is not to be confounded with some Filmation cartoon whose character has a similar name (Jane) and plotline.

    This H-B cartoon, along with Yogi's Space Race, was also partially animated in Spain, hence the names Carlos Alfonso, Juan Pina and their crew of animators in the credit scroll.

    Jana's name rhymes with William Hanna's last name... for all the uninitiated.

    The overture of Jana of the Jungle (Hanna-Barbera, 1978) brought a following prologue: "Last time which saw my father, was in a boat ride in the Amazon river..."
    And the whole stuff is portrayed thru of flash-backs, at the moment in which Jana (when a little girl) won of her father a very special necklace, during the boat ride in the Amazon river, when their boat is pulled by a watercourse, and the boat crashes into a stone, throwing father and daughter to the river. Jana's father disappears, but the girl ends being saved by Montaro, an indian chief, survivor of a missing tribe.

    Well, friends, I have to make a pause here. I'll continue in a new opportunity.
