You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Hanna-Barbera was highly productive in 1973. Their top-rated show that year was "Jeannie," an animated version of "I Dream Of Jeannie." Here, the title character was younger, and every bit the hottie that she was in prime time. Nelson and Healey were replaced by teenagers Corey Anders and Henry Glopp. But I doubt if Corey was named after coriander. That would be like saying Basil Rathbone was named after basil.

Anyway, Jeannie was joined in this pleasant romp by a bumbler named Babu. Each time he said "Yapple Dapple!," the laughs would begin as the results of his "magic" were unpredictable. Jeannie herself saw herself as Corey's girl, and tried to discourage him from dating other girls. Needless to say, she invariably won.

Although many others were able to see Jeannie, they thought she was just an ordinary girl. This led to some of my favorite episodes. Among them:

"The Kid Brother." Linda's little brother Billy, who told fibs, kept trying to prove he saw Jeannie.

"The Power Failure." Jeannie's vanity gets the best of her when she goes to a beauty parlor, and the hairdresser cuts off her ponytail, the source of her power. The scenes where she tries to blend in at the high school, and has a slight problem registering as a student are too hilarious for words.

"The Sailors." One of several episodes that pits Corey against S. Melvin Farthingale. Jeannie's magic leads to Corey being denied participation in a boat race. Jeannie calls upon seemingly dangerous sea creatures to make it look like she's in danger. As a result, Corey is allowed to race, and Jeannie willingly agrees to refrain from using her magic. But notice, she crosses her fingers. After "forgetting," however, she does keep her word.

And then there was the "Scooby -Doo Meets Jeannie" episode of "The New Scooby-Doo Movies." This was the first to deviate from the formula as the villain of the piece was Jadal, a djinn with genuine supernatural powers. There were real phantoms as well. This was one of the most outstanding episodes.

So I do rate this one very high. Too bad it may never see a DVD release.

Columbia Pictures/Sony Network Television owns the rights to the "I Dream of Jeannie" series and the "Jeannie" cartoon.

Julie McWhirter played Jeannie. She married radio personality Rick Dees ("Disco Duck") and was billed as Julie Dees in later animation roles.

Mark Hamill played the voice of Cory...4 years before his role as Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode 4- A New Hope". Hamill starred in the short-run ABC tv series "The Texas Wheelers" the following year in 1974.

Bob Hastings played Henry...like Bill Daily's Major Roger Healey in the live-action "I Dream of Jeannie" series, he knows about Jeannie and Babu's existence and being the best buddy to Cory, keeping things a secret and nervously coming up with funny explanations when Jeannie or Baboo's magic goes wrong.

Joe Besser played Babu and reprised the role in "Laff-A-Lympics"...Jeannie was originally part of the Scooby Doobie team but copyright issues with Columbia Pictures would not allow the character to appear (the same reason why "Josie and the Pussycats" plus Alexandra and Alex Cabot did not appear in the Scooby Doobies Teams with Archie Comics holding the rights) ..since Babu was a Hanna-Barbera studio creation, the character was included.

Cory's snobby rich rival S. Melvin "Smellvin" Farthingale (voiced by Tommy Cook) made for a great antagonist.

I haven't seen an episode of this since it was part of "Fred Flintstone and Friends" in the late 1970's. (I have seen the Scooby Doo crossover on Cartoon Network.) I wonder why Sony/Columbia is keeping it locked in the vaults? They released some episodes of "The Partridge Family, 2200 AD" on the Partridge Family DVD sets, and I think every episode of the Saturday morning cartoon version of Punky Brewster was included in the Punky Brewster DVD sets from Shout Factory.
