You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The first Hanna-Barbera show I watched after moving to Boston was "The Biskitts." Ten little doggies guarding a royal treasure. Can't get more original than that. Of course, there were antagonists. Aren't there always? King Max kept coming up with ways to steal the treasure trove, Shecky always bungled, and Scratch just saw the Biskitts as a food source. There were four other Biskitts: Fetch, Flip, Rover, and Princess. But the ten protagonists were the pick of the litter. I liked Waggs most of all for his ability to show leadership in a crisis. And Spinner, the oldest one, was aware of many things. In one episode, he was able to identify a band of knights by their insignia.

My top two episodes were "Shecky's Last Laugh," when the otherwise inept jester rescued the dogs as an evil jester tried to capture them, and "A Biskitt Halloween," in which the Witch Of Nidor reappeared after a century, and captured Waggs and Sweets. This led to a daring rescue and escape, with "Superfriends" music playing in the background. And Bump got the chance to play hero by smashing the witch's magic mirror, and getting rid of her forever. When he did this, I thought, "Bump's aim is good."

But for all its good writing and originality, "The Biskitts" was cancelled after one season. However, it returned in early 1985 to replace "The Shirt Tales." Then it was gone again. Although it's mostly seen on Armed Forces TV these days, there's nothing I wouldn't do to see this show again. Hurry up with the doggone DVD!

Trivia Question 22: Name the young boy who accidentally turned Lady into a golden statue.

Joe Barbera had revealed in an animation magazine that he came up with the "Biskitts" idea while dining in a restaurant. He had doodled a little dog on a napkin while waiting for his meal.

Kenneth Mars played the voice of bad King Max...he later played a more regal and sympathetic king as Ariel's father King Triton in Disney's "Little Mermaid" feature film and subsequent tv series.

Kathleen Helppie played the voice of Sweets...she later became an executive in charge of production for Warner Brothers Television Animation in the mid to late 1980s for a series of tv specials incorporating vintage Warner Brothers shorts and new animation for fill out the half hour running time.

    Biskitts characters and voices:
    Wags the leader: Darryl Hickman
    Sweets: Kathleen Helppie
    Shiner: Jerry Houser
    Downer: Henry Gibson
    Bump/Spinner: Bob Holt
    Lady: BJ Ward
    Wiggle: Jennifer Darling
    Scat: Dick Beals
    Mooch: Marshall Efron

    Shecky: Kip King
    Scratch: Peter Cullen
