    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Pros and Cons of "Looney Tunes: Back in Action"

    This movie featuring the Looney Tunes called...well Looney Tunes: Back in Action I've been interested in why it was a box office bomb and still got mixed reception(at least better than Space Jam). So what I'd like to know is: what did you like about Looney Tunes: Back in Action and what didn't you like about it? What made it good and what made it bad? What exactly were the problems with the film? I'm wondering because it was one of my favorite movies and growing up and I'm not sure why it did bad because it was more "classic Looney Tunes" than what Space Jam gave us(although they were okay more the most part on characterization with some errors).

    Let's face it, the classic looney tunes are history. They ended in 1959 as far as I am concerned... the 60's LT/MM were horrible. Even Chuck Jones when he tried to make them in the 80's and 90's fell flat.

    The classic LT/MM will never be repeated. Period. I thin LT:BIA tried to recreate them, and did better than most attempts. But to try and expect that quality and that content again, well, it just aint gonna happen. ANd keep in mind, even in the classics, not all were classic. Watch some of them, there were some dogs!

    I still say it is one of the worst written WB Movies ever made, It seem that, no thought was given, when the script was thought out. It just seems that they needed some kind of quick movie, and they got it with LTBA. [hammer]

    I can largely agree with that opinion. Warner Brothers was trying to recreate the audience magic of Who Framed Roger Rabbit with another blended medium production. Unfortunately, Back In Action tries to do this as mostly comedy with little drama, the reverse of Roger Rabbit. The Looney Tunes are wonderful characters, and they can do comedy gold in seven to ten minute short cartoons. Comedy is hard, however, and ninety minutes of comedy is really difficult, almost to Sisyphean. Warner Brothers could produce an animated film worth watching, just as Don Bluth or Walt Disney or Hanna-Barbera have done. The trick is to engineer the story as the framework of the film, and mold the characters to fit the structure. The Looney Tunes are established characters that don't mold easily around non-cartoon vehicles.
