You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

    Hello everyone,,
I never realized how many of these there were. I caught a couple here on TV where I'm housesitting. I don't get the cartoon channels at my house anymore so it was a pleasant suprise to see some good cartoons. Now that I'm trying to think of them all, I can name more than a few, and it's safe to say that I haven't seen them all.

Another thing I never realized is that while other cartoon studios made a serious cartoon every now and then, they didn't tackle some subjects that Popeye tackled. Popeye took to task spanking children, animal abuse (not typical cartoon animal sob story routines, but real life abuse that made you think), smoking, and nutrition.

This is another example of how all Popeyes are not the same.
    Thanks!!!

Just so it's known: the earliest Popeye cartoons were produced by Max and Dave Fleischer at Fleischer Studios, and they had a contract with Paramount Pictures to make the pre-feature cartoons for their films. When the brothers had a falling-out, allegedly egged on by Paramount executives, the studio was bought out by Paramount, the headquarters relocated to Miami Beach, Florida, and rebranded as Famous Studios. Many of the old Fleischer animators made the move to Florida, as in-house animation studios for the Hollywood heavyweights was a developing trend.

While the Fleischers had their studio, they aimed to keep improving their art and the media. Also, the Hayes Code didn't exist at the time, so directors could explore a wide latitude of topics and scenarios. This is why the early Popeye tales pushed the envelope, as did the Fleischers' sister series, Betty Boop.
