You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Just recently a friend (Mark McCray) introduced me to the original take on Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, er.. 23rd... In Filmation's Bravestarr. Both the first and second parts are available for free on YouTube and I must say that I was very impressed.

    Full disclosure...
I absolutely hated the DIC series that came after this, but I had no idea that Filmation did it first and better.
This blew my mind from the beginning.

The opening was much better, with the dramatic storm and hand to hand combat. Holmes falling through a time portal and randomly appearing in the future was also way better than if he was revived from stasis.
With Filmation's version, we got a true man out of time story.

With DIC's version, we got a less than intelligent Holmes who gets all of the data of the future uploaded into his brain through a VR headset. He doesn't learn or deduce anything. It would have been fantastic if we got a man out of time story here, and that's sort of what Filmation did. Actually, going above and beyond by giving Holmes a very unique way of adapting, presenting him with a new situation and new abilities.

DIC's changes frustrated me so much that I didn't bother watching even one episode more. This two episode backdoor pilot deserved a series over DIC's Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century for sure.

They were a whole century behind in quality writing and story telling, with a female detective they made to look so incompetent that the first thing she does when she sees someone in the future who looks like Moriarty is thaw out Holmes at the Museum.

And then Watson is replaced by a robot and it's just perfectly accepted. It's all just so rushed and poorly constructed.

Filmation's version made me care about the characters and what was happening. Sherlock acknowledges that Watson is no longer with him, yes now he has Wiston, but he acknowledges that he isn't his good friend Watson. A huge contrast in the writing from DIC who didn't allow you to care that Watson was being replaced at all.

Over on the SAT AM Network we rate our experiences with 1-5 Cereal bowls.

For these two episodes I'd say 4 and a half bowls of cereal.:D

    For DIC's episode one I'd say 0 bowls.:banghead:

    What say you?
Again, these are free to watch on YouTube and I love some toon discussion, so I won't turn away any opinions.
But I'd like to know why you did or didn't like these if you watched them at all.
Comment below and let's talk toons.
