You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract by a major Hollywood studio, Lena Horne died Sunday night at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell hospital in New York. The Manhattan resident was 92.

Her death was announced by her son-in-law, Kevin Buckley.

Horne made appearances in many musicals where her singing routines could be removed from prints playing in the South. These included Thousands Cheer (1943), Broadway Rhythm (1944), Two Girls and a Sailor (1944), Ziegfeld Follies (1946) and Words and Music (1948).

"The only time I ever said a word to another actor who was white was Kathryn Grayson in a little segment of Show Boat included in Till the Clouds Roll By [1946]," Horne said in a 1990 interview.

Horne's 1947 marriage to white arranger, conductor and pianist Lennie Hayton, the musical director at MGM, took place in France and was kept secret for three years.

Horne starred in two all-black musicals, both released in 1943. She was lent to 20th Century for Stormy Weather and gained fame for her performance of the title tune. She played the Devil's handmaiden in MGM's Cabin in the Sky, the first film directed by Vincente Minnelli.

Her last movie role was in 1978 as Glinda the Good Witch in The Wiz, the film version of the all-black Broadway musical based on The Wizard of Oz.

Her 1981 one-woman Broadway show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, ran for 14 months and won a Tony Award.

She was born Lena Calhoun Horne in Brooklyn on June 30, 1917. With her first husband, Louis Jones, she had a daughter, Gail, and a son, Teddy. The marriage ended soon after.

Lena Horne was predeceased in 1971 by her husband. That same her, her son died of kidney failure.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley.
