    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    USA Today has given us our first look at the design for the forthcoming DreamWorks feature Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Based on characters from the early sixties classic Jay Ward series Rocky and His Friends and its segment Peabody’s Improbable History, the movie follows the lives of a bespectacled dog and his pet boy Sherman. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 07, 2014.

    Mr. Peabody is the world’s smartest person, who happens to be a dog. He and his “pet” boy Sherman discover that someone has stolen their time-traveling WABAC machine and is changing moments in history to disastrous and comical results. It’s up to this most unexpected of father-son teams to somehow put a stop to this villain before his actions destroy the space-time continuum.

    The new CGI Mr. Peabody & Sherman is directed by Rob Minkoff, also known for directing The Lion King for Disney in 1994. Tiffany Ward, one of the executive producers, is the daughter of Jay Ward, who produced the TV series on which this film is based. Ty Burrell replaced Robert Downey Jr. as the voice of Mr. Peabody in March 2012.

    When the film releases to theaters, it will be accompanied by a Rocky and Bullwinkle short film, also from DreamWorks Animation. The short is directed by Gary Trousdale, who is known for co-directing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The film was originally to be released in November of this year, but was pushed back to March 07, 2014.
