You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Three Short Lives.

In 1982, Hanna-Barbera continued to rule the Saturday morning cartoon roost. Unfortunately, they were now slipping in their ability to produce a successful animated primetime series.

I'll begin with "Jokebook." This animated anthology series was there and gone so fast in the spring of 1982, that I never knew it existed until I read about it in my animation books. The info these books supplied indicated that I didn't really miss much. None of the animated films shown on it were even produced by H-B. In fact, the studio only animated the opening and closing. How may episodes did it have? Seven, but only three aired before it was abruptly cancelled.

Ten years later, H-B tried-and failed again, with both "Capitol Critters" and "Fish Police." CC only aired six of its thirteen episodes, and FP three of its six. Both of these aired in the winter of 1992, and were cancelled just before the vernal equinox. Again, I let them slip past me, but it's probably just as well.

By the '90's, H-B was also faltering on Saturday mornings, but I'll save all that for later.

Trivia Question 27: Which Oscar-winning short aired on "Jokebook?"

    Answer: "The Crunchbird."

I recall seeing the series on Friday nights on NBC around 8:30pm. Friday was a notorious night for NBC in the late 1970s and early 1980s as many short-lived series aired and died there ("Pink Lady and Jeff","the Waverly Wonders", "Who's Watching The Kids", "Speak Up America" for example). "Diff'rent Strokes" premiered on Fridays and had decent ratings for a long run as an exception.

Yes, there were also short segments that were animated by Hanna-Barbera...they featured familiar voice actors like Frank Welker, Michael Bell, John Stephenson, and Don Messick. The character designs were done by Marty Murphy who designed the characters for "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home", "Hong Kong Phooey", and "Dinky Dog".

Basically short sketch comedies and foreign animated shorts in the half hour.
