You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

I know the scenario in Paris will mark a time of infamy, but...what cartoons have been set in Paris or France?

I know Pepe le Pew calls France home....

"The Man Called Flintstone"took place in both Paris and Rome.

"The Great Pussycat Chase" began and ended in Paris.

And let's not forget "Gay Purr-ee," and "The Aristocats." Plus "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame."

    Going way, way back ...

L'Idée from 1932 by Berthold Bartosch
Joie de Vivre from 1934 by Hector Hoppin and Anthony Gross
And though it was produced in Germany, this one made its debut in France:
Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed from 1926 by Lotte Reiniger

Today, France has Gobelins, an art school specializing in animation, which is Europe's answer to Cal Arts.

The Triplets of Belleville takes place in France. So does Ratatouille (specifically Paris).

Oh, and Paris is the setting for Depatie-Freleng's The Inspector and Deux-Deux and the Chief Inspector, as well as some peculiar criminals.

And I just remembered "The Garbage Strikes," when the Planeteers go to Paris, and have to stop a garbage monster unleashed by Sly Sludge. Wheeler decides to take Linka to Andre's Bistro for French fries.

Just to set the record straight, L'Idée (1932) was made by Berthold Bartosch, and Joie de Vivre (1934) was by Hector Hoppin and Anthony Gross.

    Let's also add:
Gene Deitch's Alice (of Wonderland) in Paris (1966)
A Monster in Paris (2011) directed by Bibo Bergeron, produced by Luc Besson
A Cat in Paris (2010) directed by Alain Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli for the French animation studioFolimage

^ Thanks for the correction, Chief. I've made the adjustments accordingly. And it taught me to distrust IMDB as an authoritative source.

"Napoleon Bunny-Part" has Bugs somehow ending up in France in Napoleon's headquarters.
Also Disney's Beauty and the Beast takes place in France. (The fairy tale itself is French, but I think this is the only adaption that actually keeps the setting there)

Though they started in comic books, Pif et Hercule migrated to French television as an animated series, and have a feature film adaptation as well. Pif is the dog, Hercule is the cat.

If I remember properly, Don Bluth's Anastasia had the title character meeting her grandmother once again in Paris.
Tex Avery's "The Flea Circus" happened to be a French flea circus.
Phineas and Ferb's special "Summer Belongs to You!" has the gang traveling all over the world--including Paris. Isabella sings "In the City of Love" referring to how Phineas just wants to focus on fixing the plane rather than spend some time enjoying Paris with her.

Here's two good cartoons from France...

"Swash-Buckled" starring Loopy de Loop (even calling France, Mother France).

And one of the best Disney movies ever..."Beauty and the Beast"!

One of the newer Mickey Mouse cartoons produced in 2013 is "Croissant de Triomphe" wherein Minnie Mouse works in a bistro, and gets many orders for croissants, but the bistro has run out. It's up to Mickey to deliver fresh baked goods to the bistro, and he rides his trusty moped across Paris, passing all the iconic landmarks ... because his driving involves some of the stupidest detours possible.
