You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Well, Well. Look Who's On First.

Even though others mentioned the Abbott And Costello cartoons in my Laurel And Hardy thread, I felt they deserved a thread of their own.

As with the L & H shorts, I didn't know Costello was already gone and that Abbott's health was declining when I began watching these. But considering Abbott was terribly ill, he did a great job voicing his own character, and didn't sound unhealthy to me.

I truly believe that most of these shorts were inspired by the duo's live action horror spoofs that had them meeting Frankenstein, the Mummy, and the Invisible Man, among others. After all, they were up against a dragon, cloud, ice, and lava monsters, and a variety of human and alien villains. There was even a parody of Godzilla. Not to mention Abbott himself, who, in one episode kept turning into a werewolf. Poor Costello kept trying to prevent that from happening. Some of these escapades were so funny, I ended up rolling on the floor laughing. Too bad there was never an animated version of "Who's On First." I'd have loved to have seen that.

Sadly, this year marks the 40th anniversary of Abbott's death, and the 55th of Costello's. For this reason, I decided to post them separately from Laurel and Hardy. RIP, guys.

Living in a small town with few TV channels,I didn't see many of the syndicated cartoons being released at the time.I first saw this version of Abbott and Costello in a comic book published by Charlton. For years I wondered why a comic based on a real life comedy team would be cover billed as a ''Hanna-Barbera Production''.Mystery finally solved when I moved to St Louis, where one of their local stations carried the cartoons.LOVED that jazzy opening theme music.

Having grown up here in South Dakota, I recall seeing a few Abbott & Costello cartoons on KELO-TV's Captain 11 show in the 1970s.

Bud Abbott passed away in 1974. He had been suffering from serious emphysema at the time of recording his voice for the Hanna-Barbera cartoons around 1967 and needed the salary for his health treatments.

Lou Costello died of a sudden heart attack in 1959 at age 52 after the completion of filming of his only film role after breaking up with Bud Abbott in "The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock"...Costello played a wacky inventor who accidentally enlarges his girlfriend (Dorothy Provine) to giant-size proportions. The film was released to theatres after his death.

Stan Irwin played Costello in the Hanna-Barbera cartoons...Irwin was a producer of "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" in 1962. Irwin had a role as Arnie the Butler in the tv series version of "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington" for one season from 1962 to 1963. Irwin performed as a stand-up comic in various Las Vegas casino/club venues and became a show business agent as well.

I viewed some Abbott and Costello cartoons on my local tv station in San Francisco, CA. The familiar Hanna-Barbera background music and sound effects, and supporting voice cast such as John Stephenson, Don Messick, and Janet Waldo made it a comfortable watch, even if Costello screamed "Heyyyyy, Abbott!!" once too often. Costello was usually the bumbling fall guy when various villains, monsters, and animals bother him and Abbott as the straight man usually became irritated but protective with Costello. It took some humorous convincing by Costello to make Abbott find out what or who is bothering him during the cartoon stories

Trivia Question 90: True Or False. Abbott And Costello paint the credits on a wall while perched on a scaffold.

True. I haven't watched one of these since they aired on Miami's WCIX in the 1970's, but I still remember the pair plummetting to the ground because Costello let go of the rope. "Heyyyyy Abbottt!" CRASH!
