    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Oh dear, I've got nothing flighty or up-up-and-away, or anything airborne. Room-zoom-zoomy, I got, though; will that do?

"You did good, pal. You sure packed away a lot of junk food there."
    "Yeah, I know."

Hint: the first line comes from a character and series that's gone untapped to date. The character's voice actor is perhaps best known as the nerdiest kid on television.

I have the answer, but let's see if someone else gets it first.

Well, since my prediction that someone else would get it didn't come true, here's the answer: It's Sonic The Hedgehog and Tails, from "The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog."

That's the answer, Em, and it couldn't be more righter. Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest thing alive (on Mobius, at least), as voiced by Jaleel White, also known as Steve Urkel. Good response, Em, and you're up. :)

Oh, we've had the intro tune to The Mickey Mouse Club, so this is part of the outro from the same show. I misidentified the intro as being sung by Mickey Mouse, when in fact, it was sung by Jiminy Cricket. Somehow, this stanza sounds too low in the register for Jiminy, so I'll attribute this one to Mickey Mouse. It surely can't be Donald Duck (too well enunciated) and it can't be Goofy (no trace of overdone yokel accent).

Ah, it is indeed part of the Mickey Mouse Club outro--BUT it's not from the actual stanza from the show itself which was sung by the very human Mouseketeers.
However, this take on the show is definitely from a Disney show and it is said (not sung) by an temperamental pantsless duck--with a chainsaw!
Come on, now, Oneuglybunny, I may play fair, but I don't always intend to play easy!

"An pantsless temperamental duck" points squarely at Donald Duck. Ludwig von Drake is cuckoo enough to wield a chainsaw, but he's pure cuckoo, as opposed to straight-up temperamental. So why oh why would Donald wield a chainsaw? Going the horror + slasher + Texas Massacre route is too dark for Disney, so this can't be a face-value instance. Methinks Donald is faking the Ax Crazy maniac shtick as a ploy, most likely to unnerve his naughty nephews. I'll postulate that it's Donald Duck, in dress and props, conducting a scare drill from an end-of-October special, something like Mickey Mouse's Hallowe'en Special.

Nope, not Donald at all! While this duck is temperamental--he's also entirely evil. Also think tv show--not theatrics.

Oh! Okay, now my rusty head has zeroed in on who said this. I think, anyway, because Google searching is kind of like cheating, like Phone A Friend during a trigonometry exam. But, yeah, the fellow I have in mind is a duck, he's evil and delightedly so, and he's a Disney Television character. But since I can't keep my off-target trap shut, I'll give someone smarter a chance to respond.

Correct, emeraldisle. In "Just Us Ducks Part 2" (one of only two two part episodes of Darkwing Duck) , Negaduck shouts this while going after Darkwing Duck with a chainsaw--his favorite weapon.

"I couldn't do that. Owls eat mice."

Instantly recognizable as Auntie Shrew counseling Widow Brisby in Don Bluth's breakaway feature film The Secret of NIMH. So long as she does her visiting during daylight hours, Brisby will be fine. As Jeremy the crow points out, owls eat mice "only after dark."

Nice one. Y' might want to have Cyndi Lauper on the playlist for this one:

"Do I spy a little pinstriping tattoo back there?"
    "Oh, that. You saw that?"
