    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Yes, Glowworm. It's Fido. I find it amusing that he calls the veggies "Bugs Bunny food." Good job. :) Next quote's all yours.

Yeah, that line is pretty amusing--like a little kid who doesn't want to eat his veggies.

"The men up there don't like a lot of blabber. / They think a girl who gossips is a bore. / Yes, on land it's much preferred / For ladies not to say a word, / And after all, dear, what is idle prattle for?"

Ursula the Sea Witch, coaching naive and smitten Ariel on the ways of land-dwelling humans. She just might be onto something there.

Yup, this is Bullwinkle Moose attempting the old rabbit-from-the-hat trick. Of course, being a colossal doofus, the moose pulls a snarling tiger from the hat instead. Rocket Squirrel's observation ices the gag nicely.

Thanks, OUB. Now for a set of quotes I didn't intend to post until now:

"Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory. Gee, what a keen movie!"

    "I love that Willy Wonka."

"Yeah, but how about this chocolate factory?"

"Sure wish I knew how to make my own candy."

This has to be Cap'n Crunch, id est Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch, spokes character for the Quaker Oats cereal. I know the Cap'n has three close associates: a boy with thick glasses, a girl with pigtails, a runt with a Gilligan hat worn over his eyes. Also an excitable but mindless dog. Despite their youth, these children somehow kept the Guppy seaworthy. The Cap'n's principal adversary at the outset was Jean La Foote, the barefoot pirate. Somehow, Wikipedia has nothing on the three underage crew members. So, as a place holder, I'll call them Bookworm, Squeaky and Runt. :p

You're right, it was three of the four kids who sail with the Captain. The quote was actually spoken by Dave, Alfie, and Brunhilda. The little boy who never spoke was Carlyle. Good job. :)

There was a commercial tie-in to that movie, that offered kids their own candy making kit by sending in money and box tops. Unfortunately, it performed the way the film did at the box office.

So you get the next quote, OUB.

Close enough? Okay, cool. :) Now for just one character, speaking to the audience:

    "Didn't miss that by much."
    [painful impact]

"Didn't miss this one t'all." [sic]

I believe that's from ''Perfesser'' Huckleberry Hound ,from the classic "Spud Dud''. Now I've suddenly got a craving for potato chips.

That's exactly who said the quote. It is Huck Hound, dodging chimneys after the potato monster threw him bodily over some rooftops. Huck dodges one chimney narrowly, resulting in the first line. The next chimney is taller, though, and Huck smacks squarely into it. That must've hurt.

So, let's hear your quote, Bill. :)

The scene takes place in a courtroom, during a custody battle over a club-carrying toddler.
