    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Hint time: this is the first maxim cited by the Main Character in his first episode. He would continue to cite Confucian adages in his travels across the globe.

Aha! It must be Phileas Fogg from the Australian animated version of "Around The World In 80 Days."

That's exactly who spoke the quote, blessing the excitable Passepartout with his wisdom. "Around The World In Eighty Days, Passepartout / So Fogg can marry Belinda Maze, Passepartout / Fogg may fail because of Fix / Unless Fog nixes Fix's tricks / Around the world with Passepartout." Good citing, Em. :)

Thanks, OUB. Now for a quote from a character I didn't know had been animated until just last night:

"Do not pick up that napkin."

Yes, Salty, incredibly, there is an animated bio about Helen Keller, from a series called "Animated Hero Classics." The quote is from when Ms. Sullivan tried to teach Ms. Keller proper table manners. Which, needless to say, wasn't easy. Good job. :). Next quote's all yours.

The "so angry"" part makes it a dead giveaway for Marvin The Martian. It's not from any Bugs Bunny - Marvin Martian cartoon with that Illudium Pu-36 modulator. This must be the one where Marvin visits Earth to capture an Earth specimen; he gets Bugs Bunny. Marvin bought his "dog" K-9 with him on that mission, so the mutiny part was that rascally rabbit leaving K-9 in an indefensible position. Can't recall the name of that cartoon offhand, though.

The cartoon in question is "Hasty Hare" and Bugs is pulling a fast one by claiming that K9 is being rather shifty.

You are correct Sir OUB. It's Marvin Martian who's angry with mutiny.

Ah, that's the one: Hasty Hare, got it.

Be advised, that I can't put an Aussie accent on this; all I can do is spell it correctly, then put it in italics. The funny part is who's saying this to whom.

    "Here, kitties. Nice kitties."

Hint time: it's a mouse that says this. To about a hundred cats. Fortunately, the felines are much more focused on escaping a horror-hole than in mouse-pouncing.

This might be Monterey Jack from Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers. He's not fond of cats and has an Aussie accent.

It might be, and it is. This quote comes from the Rescue Rangers' first episode, not counting the five-part pilot, "Catteries not Included." Their mission is to rescue cats from the clutches of Norton Nimnul, who at the time, was keeping them in a pit in the middle of his lab. Monterey brings a ladder to help the cats climb out of that pit, and calls the cats' attention to it with the quote. One hundred terrified cats and one anxious mouse; what could go wrong?

    Good work, GW. :)

Yeah, there actually aren't too many mice out there with Aussie accents.
