    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Perhaps these last three clues will refresh your memories:

    4. My three letter name is an acronym.

    5. In 1987, I hosted the Saturday morning preview show, and later joined other iconic cartoon characters in an unforgettable anti-drug special.

    6. I have an insatiable appetite for felines.

This must be worst house guest possible: Gordon Shumway, otherwise known as Alien Life Form or ALF. Those poor, suffering Tanners.

Yes, OUB, that's it. Good job. :). Clues 1,2,3, 4, and 6 are self-explanatory. He and many others were seen in "Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue," in which they help out a teenage drug addict. So the next turn is yours.

Nice. :) Aha, found one that's been overlooked somehow. It's fixing time!

    1) This character occurs first in theatrical short cartoons that later migrated to television, a la Tom and Jerry.

    2) Though this character seems to have no job, there's always food on the plate.

    3) Capricious, curious and always smiling, this character can also be a perfect brat at times. Naturally, this results in an envious adversary.

Just checked the list, and two possibilities are already on it. So I'm stumped.

    Intermediate clues time.

    4) Also in the manner of Tom And Jerry, this character's cartoons rarely have extras or supporting characters. It's mainly this character and the antagonist.

    5) This character has a limited vocabulary. Just one word, really, unless you count print media.

    6) Fair Play Rule: this character is not human. Walks on two legs, certainly, sees with two big eyes, and has a pink tongue, but there the similarities end.

Ok. Time I supplied the answer. It must be Road Runner. Meep! Meep!

It must be, and it is! This is the Road Runner, from the Chuck Jones series for Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes franchise. There's always food on the plate because the coyote puts it there as bait. The bratty part is RR's tendency to flail that big pink tongue at the coyote, as a kind "nyah nyah." Nice of you to catch this one, EI. :)

Thanks, OUB. Now for one who's really and truly gone untapped:

    1. I attend a school that's many miles from home.

    2. Most of my schoolmates are not from Earth, except for a girl.

    3. In one episode, I buy something that gets me in big trouble.

Looks like I got another stumper. Let's try these clues:

    4. I share my name with a character from "The Secret Saturdays."

    5. My BFF at the school has six arms.

    6. The thing I buy in clue 3 makes a junkie out of me.

Well, I've zeroed in on Lloyd In Space, a weekend series by Walt Disney Animation. My problem is figuring out whether this is the non-human title character, Lloyd Nebulon, or his human compadre, Eddie Horton.

    Fair Play Rule?

Guess this one wasn't as easy as I thought. So here's the answer. It's Doyle Cleverlobe, from "Galaxy High."

    1. Self-explanatory.

    2. The only fellow Earthling there is Amy Brightower.

    3. He buys the Brain Blaster, and the consequences are disastrous.

    4. He shares his name with Doyle Blackwell, a character from "The Secret Saturdays."

    5. His BFF is the six-armed Milo DeVenus.

    6. The episode "The Brain Blaster" is a brilliantly written antidrug episode, in which Doyle does, in fact, become a junkie.

So to be patriotic this holiday weekend, I'll let someone else post the next character.

Well, it's been 24 hours, so I guess I'll post an easier set of clues:

    1. We're four of a kind.

    2. Our names and looks are similar to those of our uncle.

    3. We've been in holiday-themed shorts, including one for the Fourth Of July.

Okay, this one I can't fumble. These would be the four nephews of Popeye the Sailor Man: Pipeye, Peepeye, Pupeye and Poopeye. I'd advise a paternity test on those four, since they bear a striking resemblance to Popeye ... unless Popeye happens to have an unseen twin somewhere.

Thanks. With this opportunity, I can spackle another hole in the Character List. Goodie. :D

    1) This character was "born" in a work of literature which was later adapted into an animated feature film.

    2) From there, this character came to headline a series of direct-to-video productions.

    3) Further, this character makes cameo appearances in other feature films and television productions.

No answers as of last night, so I'd better post now before this one becomes unguessed. It's Bambi.
