    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Oh dear, more clues are needed. Ahem...

    4) This character is the master of ceremonies for a national holiday. He's one of those kinetic people, with 10% caffeine in their veins.

    5) Believe it or not, this character is a Good Guy. Try to overlook the fact that he nearly killed two of the main characters. That was just his night job, and he didn't have all the facts in hand at the time.

    6) He's still a Good Guy, even though the authorities are seeking him, and at one point, apprehend him on felony charges.

Unfortunately, I'm still clueless. Maybe by tomorrow, someone else will have the answer.

I think this must be Clopin, the gypsies' leader, from Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

That thinking is impeccable, sir, because that's precisely who this Mystery Character is. Created by Victor Hugo, he's a puppeteer by day, and King of the Gypsies by night, plus serves as master of ceremonies for Topsy-Turvy Day, which is also known as the Feast of Fools. Bravo, PeterHale, that's worth a fresh +1 and control of the Board. :) And for the record, his last name is Trouillefou. Good luck with that.

Gotta find a character.. gotta find a character... aha! what's this - one down and two to go, eh?...

    1) I am one of a trio. So far only one of us has been used in this game.
    2) I am named for that which is commonly represented by the colour green - so it is perhaps odd that I am the one dressed in red.
    3) We may be small, and less powerful than the film's villain, but without our efforts evil would have triumphed.

Yes indeed - Glowworm has it. Flora, the leader of the three good fairies, wears red, and has red wings, despite "flora" referring to vegetation, or "greenery". Fauna, named after the animal kingdom, is the green one, where red might have been more appropriate. Go figure.

Well spotted, Glowworm - over to you.

    1. I am a WWII propaganda character.
    2. I was specifically created for the navy.
    3. My job was to encourage sailors to buy war bonds.

Seaman Hook, the seagoing parallel character to Warner Brothers' Private Snafu. You know it's the bridal suite when it has a crosswise-bride-shaped door. Who makes those?

Yes, this is Mr. Hook--his first short was produced by Walter Lantz in color while the rest were by Warner Brothers in black and white. Unlike SNAFU--this little guy was competent and literally fought with war bonds.

Nice one. :) Now, for one that's not so nice. Technically evil, but not very.

    1) This character has appeared only once to date in a completely animated feature film. He survives to the end of the story, so he could recur.

    2) In the manner of "They Just Call Him Barkeep," this character isn't called by name, but instead by his title. Or perhaps, they're one and the same. Prophetic parenting is a possibility.

    3) This character isn't quite human. He walks upright, speaks English, wears clothes and basks in glory. However, he sports one feature that no human has ever had, at least not to this degree.

    Whoopsie, more clues needed, pronto.

    4) This character is a politician, though not a senator. Nor is he the most powerful character in the realm. That'd be the main character.

    5) Though this character does not have godlike powers, he does share a characteristic of the old Roman god Janus, for whom the month of January is named.

    6) It's not a Napoleon hat, but it's still a prominent hat on this character's head. At least, let us hope that's a hat, rather than this character's head being shaped like that. Euw.

    ! Cupcake clues time.

    7) Stop motion animation for this character and all the others.

    8) Typical two-faced politician, literally.

    9) "I'm only an elected official here. I can't make decisions by myself."

Yes, this is the Mayor of Halloween Town, from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. He has two faces on his head, arranged on opposite sides, much like the Roman god Janus. Plus, wears that wide-brim hat.

Nice of you to rescue the Mayor from the Swamp of Unguessedness. :) The board is yours, along with a happy +1.

    Ok, I made it.

I am a very arrogant feline.
I also fancy myself a ladies man.
I met the girl of my dreams, however... something new has been added.
