    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Ok, I got one who's really been overlooked:

    1. I'm a criminal who appears halfway through the short.

    2. Wouldn't you know it, a hen takes shelter in my hideout.

    3. I'm named for an infamous gangster and a breakfast staple often served with cream cheese.

    Last three clues:

    4. The hen I mentioned thinks I'm protecting her egg.

    5. My apartment number is 13.

    6. Eventually, I surrender when I'm subdued by tear gas.

Aha! Now I got it. This is Pretty Boy Bagel from the 1950s short "An Egg Scramble" You almost put me in the wrong direction, instead of thinking of bagels, I thought of lox. (Hey, I am Jewish:happy:)

At any rate, you got it, Glowworm. Good job. :). All clues are self-explanatory, so you get the next character.

Believe it or not, this was not a short I saw often on tv when I watched Looney Tunes--Pretty Boy Bagel was a memorable one shot character though.
    Here's another.
    1. I play a short but memorable role in a short loosely based off the fairy tale of a tiny boy.
    2. I have the ability to change myself into anything at will--and against my will, as apparently I have a nasty case of the hiccups causing me to transform at random.
    3. My feet always remain the same though when I transform.

    Here's some more clues.
    4. The short I'm in was the second retelling of this fairy tale by the same director.
    5. The first one was very Disney-like and featured a caring father looking after his tiny son.
    6. This one is a lot more whimsical and is from the 1960s.

Amazingly, I found it. It's Ralph K. Merlin, from "I Was A Teenage Thumb."

Thanks, Glowworm. Now for one that I decided on easily:

    1. I'm the title character of an anime series that lasted five years.

    2. I always draw the cards to defeat my adversaries.

    3. Three weeks from now, I'll be back in a new animated movie.

    Only three more clues:

    4. My series is anime.

    5. I often alternate between a teenage boy and an Egyptian pharaoh who looks just like me.

    6. My most frequent archrival is the orphaned son of a businessman.

Yes, Glowworm, it's Yugi all right. Now for the clues:

    1. The show ran from 2001-2006.

    2. He used cards to play Duel Monsters, and most often used Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl.

    3. On January 27th, "Yu-Gi-Oh: The Dark Side Of Dimensions" will premiere in theaters.

    4. Self-explanatory again.

    5. He often alternated between an ordinary teenager and the Pharoah, thanks to the Millenium Puzzle.

    6. He dueled against many, but his frequent arch rival was Seto Kaiba.

So you go again, Glowworm. Good job. :).

    Got one.
    1. I'm the prize for whoever brings back meat for the tribe.
    2. The winner is a dopey little guy who sounds and acts like a certain deadpan little dog.
    3. Oh but underneath that veil of mine is a double whammy!

This is Big Heel-watha, the chief's daughter, from the Tex Avery cartoon Big Heel-watha. Gorgeous body, but her face ... yow. Which is where America gets the term "butterface." Mexico has "camarona," and Japan has "bakkushan." Turn off all the lights and think of England.

Correct, however, Big Heelwatha is actually the Droopy-like indian in this short. The chief's daughter's name is Minnie Hotcha.
Her face is actually a double whammy--in the beginning of the short, she wears a veil--when Big Heelwatha wins her, it is discovered to the dismay of everybody--including Minnie herself that she is downright hideous. However, that was merely a mask Screwball clearly put on her face--she really is gorgeous--a native american Red Hot Riding Hood if you will.

Oh dear, got my characters mixed up again. Thanks for allowing the leeway, GW, that's cricket. Now for a character that's tough to get wrong:

    1) This character appears in a minor role only once to date in an animated feature film. He survives to the end of the story, so he could easily recur.

    2) Even though this character and his associates battle the forces of evil, it likely won't be bullets, bombs or death rays that end this character.

    3) His smiling, genial attitude have earned this character a place as the face of the team, sort of like the Wal-mart greeter, but with better pay and benefits.

    Intermediate clues time.

    4) This character has female troubles. The first female we see him greet has to remind him not to put his proverbial foot in his mouth.

    5) The second female that we see near this character eludes him and disturbs this character's boss.

    6) Despite being covered in spots, this character is healthy. Not perfectly healthy, obviously, but certainly not contagious or feverish.

By a stupendously large chance, this is Officer Benjamin Clawhauser of the Zootopia Police Department, usually staffing the dispatch desk. When he first encounters rookie Judy Hopps, he squees at her cuteness, which is a no-no for non-rabbits. Later, the persistent wife of Emmett Otterton gets by Clawhauser to beseech Chief Bogo to find her missing husband. And because Clawhauser is a cheetah, his fur is liberally dappled with spots. Good job, EmeraldIsle. :D

Thanks, OUB. Now for another overlooked character:

    1. I'm the only team player who can fly.

    2. I can carry three humans on my back.

    3. Look out for my eyes and tail.
