    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

That's absolutely right, Igoo the Rock Ape has three human associates among The Herculoids. Which makes this answer absolutely ... non-right. Mighty nice brick, though. :shy:

    4) Hanna-Barbera Studios have produced more cartoons than any other studio, Disney included. This character is not a Hanna-Barbera creation, however.

    5) Nor did Hasbro produce this character, although he rides a trusty steed. I have no idea what this critter is, though it functions much like a horse. Equestria would likely have trouble categorizing this beast as well.

    6) Nor did Lucasfilm Limited produce this character, though his companion wields a lightsaber. Although, he doesn't call it that.

Edit made, it's the associate that wields the weapon, not the Mystery Character himself.

This is a hard one. Let's see if research will remedy this.

Ok, those last three clues did it for me. It's Ookla the Mok, from "Thundarr The Barbarian."

Yes, this is Ookla, from the Joe Ruby and Ken Spears production. Point and control are yours.

Thanks, OUB. Now here's one that I would have posted last week were it not for the death of Prince:

    1. I'm a blonde, but clearly not a dumb one.

    2. Even though I sort of like him, I keep rejecting the handsome, fiery American boy.

    3. In keeping with the times, my home country was eventually changed to a geographical region.

I know this one, but I don't want to get whammy'd again, so I'll keep quiet. :muted:

Three last clues, and no more:

    4. I'm the third one mentioned in the show's opening, or fourth, if you include the lady in charge.

    5. I play an electronic keyboard, but I'm also skilled with computer keyboards.

    6. Tragically, I lose my young cousin in one episode.

Apparently, I must answer this one. This is Linka from the Soviet Union, strike that, Eastern Europe. She is given the power of Wind by Gaia, and becomes one of the planeteers that can help summon Captain Planet. Voiced by Kath Soucie, this was one of Turner Animations pet projects.

Yes, OUB, you nailed it again. Now to explain the clues:

    1. She was never a dumb blonde. In fact, I consider her the most intelligent team player.

    2. Although she acted like she wanted nothing to do with Wheeler, she did become concerned when his life was in danger.

    3. Beginning with Season 3, the Soviet Union was changed to Eastern Europe, following the fall of Communism.

    4. She's the third Planeteer mentioned, but may be seen as the fourth character over all, since Gaia's officially mentioned first.

    5. Self-explanatory.

    6. In the episode :"Mind Pollution," she and her cousin Boris get hooked on Bliss. Sadly, Boris dies after taking a fatal overdose. :(

So good job once again. :)

Okay, perhaps I can redeem myself. Here goes:

    1) This character appears regularly in an animated television series. More than one, in fact. While any one series may have stopped production, there's every indication that some iteration of the franchise will continue.

    2) While this character is female, she routinely accompanies one or more heroes on dangerous missions, risking life and limb in the cause of Liberty. She gets her hands dirty, so to speak.

    3) Further, this character is not the only active-duty female. She is, however, the highest ranking one, regardless of producer. In any case, the Smurfette Principle is averted.

I'll take a brick for once--Lady Jaye from G.I. Joe perhaps?

Hmm, not quite the character I had in mind, but Lady Jaye does meet all of the clues' criteria ... I think. Is Lady Jaye the only active combatant in the Joe series? If not, then it's Glowworm's point under the Minus 8 Rule. :)

If it's not the character you were looking for, then keep going. There were definitely a few more female soldiers in G.I. Joe--I know that at least.

Again, by all means, OneUglyBunny, continue to give more clues on this one, as I don't consider myself a winner unless I've truly come up with the correct character.

    As you wish.

    4) This character could be a love interest to the main character, who is male. There are close moments between the two on occasion, but they're mainly teammates and platonic partners.

    5) This character is not human. Speaks English, walks upright, uses equipment including computers, and all that, but not homo sapiens. Her chief adversary is human, though; just not very humane.

    6) Because this character is very important, she has a personal bodyguard. This li'l lady can take care of herself, though, which is good, because her "bodyguard" seems oddly underqualified.

Well, I've waited long enough. If I know my feisty nonhuman femmes, it's Princess Sally, from "Sonic The Hedgehog."

You nailed this one, EI. This is Princess Sally from Sega's Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, which has spawned five animated series to date. That's good for another +1. :)

Thanks, but I only supplied the right answer to prevent her from becoming another unguessed character. There are others who are long overdue for a turn, so I'll let one of them post a new one.
