    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Just found her, though I never heard of her. It's Sophie Krustofski, daughter of Krusty The Clown.

Yes, it's Sophie Krustofsky from the episode, Insane Clown Poppy.

She is the daughter of Krusty, who gambled away her violin. He got it back with the help of Homer.

Thanks, Salty. Now for yet another untapped one:

    1. I'm the youngest in a family of three.

    2. Unlike the title character, my name isn't mentioned in the theme song.

    3. My BFF, amazingly, is the world's biggest simian, who's currently in the new number one movie.

    Last three clues:

    4. My buddy's described as being ten times as big as a man.

    5. In the theme song, I'm merely described as a boy too young to know the danger.

    6. My nemesis shares his name with a famous sci-fi doctor.

Oh, wow, I'd almost forgotten this one. Bless you, Em, for shaking these cobwebs out of my head. This is Bobby Bond, son of globe-traveling Professor Bond, from the Rankin-Bass series The King Kong Show. When the Bonds are imperiled by the Forces of Evil, they summon a bigger primate: King Kong. Thereafter, the baddies have a horrible day. Of course, not being a Complete Monster, Kong actually sympathized with Mad Scientist Doctor Who, whose dinosaur skeleton was toppled during the fighting. Kong tried his best to restack the bones for the loopy fellow. Thwarting villains is A-Okay, but breaking their bones is tacky. Actually, R-B contracted this series out to Toei Animation Limited, because nobody does kaiju like Japan.

Nice. :) Ooh, fixing time: we've tapped the wingman, but not the lead.

    1) This character appears only once to date in a mostly animated feature film. There are live actors in this, but ... oh, well.

    2) This character is the equivalent of law enforcement: he's there to serve and protect. He gets saddled with an outsider who's there in a similar capacity.

    3) The sidekick, new in town, has already been tapped for this game; this is the title character, who has been a local all his life.

Yeah, was waiting to see if anyone else knew this one. I did from the start. This is Osmosis Jones from the movie of the same name.

Yes, this is Osmosis Jones, one of the anti-contagion cells of Frank's immune system. Jones gets paired with Drix, a cough-and-cold pill. They're trying to track down a dangerous anarchist called The Red Death. Good memory, Glowworm. :)

Amusing that I've never seen that movie yet I clearly know the characters.
Here's one I wanted to post yesterday.
    1. Two young salesmen show up at the castle that I'm the caretaker of.
    2. I try to keep them from staying on account of the banshee who haunts the place.
    3. I may look like a wee lass but I'm actually made up of little people.

    A little more.
    4. The salesmen in question are a duck and a pig.
    5. They are selling gags and jokes--but there has been no laughter in the castle due to the banshee.
    6. The Banshee can turn people into stone by staring at her victims.

One last set of clues and then I'll reveal this one if need be.
    7. The pig and the duck hail from Acme Acres.
    8. This episode is composed of three shorts--the theme/title is Viewer Mail Day
    9. We're tiny, we're toony, we're all a little looney.

Took a while, but those last three clues did it for me. The answer is Bridey O' Connor, from "Tiny Toon Adventures."

Correct. This is one of my favorite episodes of Tiny Toon Adventures--The episode in question is called "Pluck of the Irish." and casts faint echos of the great Looney Tunes short "The Wearing of the Grin"

Thanks, Glowworm. Now to enter once again into previous tapped territory:

    1. Officially, I'm the youngest of the three human team players.

    2. I'm blonde just like my mother.

    3. I call my parents mostly by name instead of Mom and Dad.

    Three more clues:

    4. Along with my mom, I'm often captured by alien bad guys.

    5. I live on a distant planet just like everyone else on my show.

    6. My look was copied for a boy seeking to become a Musketeer.

    Ok, last three clues:

    7. Depending on the episode, I ride on either a flying dragon or a ten-legged rhino/triceratops.

    8. I was voiced by someone else when I resurfaced in 1981.

    9. For the 1981 iteration, I joined forces with other space heroes, including an old one from the same studio.

Wow, am I thick. I should have recognized one of your favorite series straightaway, Em. This is Dorno, son of Zandor and Tara, part of the world-saving team called The Herculoids by Hanna-Barbera.

Sweet. :) And speaking of someone's son:

1a) This character appears twice to date, each time in an animated feature. His first appearance is in a secondary role, leaving his parents to do the heroics.

1b) However, his second appearance elevates him to the primary villain. Must be the good apples that fall close to the tree; the bad apples end up in another county entirely.

    2) In his first appearance, this character isn't really evil, just naughty. And he's only behaving that way because he's been triggered by another, difficult character.

    3) It likely isn't helping that his father is absent, killed during a mission.
