    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

    OK, I put one together.

I appeared once in animated form in a live action movie.
Before the animated sequence, I'm telling my psychiatrist a dream I had.
In this dream, I get advice from a certain famous rabbit.

I'll need to look this one up, but at least I know who the famous rabbit is.

This is Jack Carson's character Danny Foster from "Two Guys From Texas."
In an animated dream sequence, Danny is a shepherd who has a flock of sheep, but Steve shows up in a wolf costume and then lures them all away. Danny then gets advice from Bugs Bunny to attempt the same thing, but it backfires. Also, that native american woman who speaks Spanish isn't nearly as random as I thought.

Yep that's right, it's Danny Foster.

You mean the native american woman who speaks Spanish isn't random?

Apparently, the Native American woman is actually in the movie, which is why she appears in Danny's dream. I've only seen the animated sequence of course, not the entire movie--but I've seen a small build up before he talks to his doctor about his dream and the Native American woman is there.

    1. I am summoned through a demand to a magic mirror.
    2. I have no interest in the woman who called for me.
    3. I don't get the other girl either.

I know this. It's Prince Chawmin' from "Coal Block And De Sebben Dwarves."

    1. The Queen demands him via the magic mirror.

    2. He doesn't like Her Majesty.

    3. Instead of him, So White falls for Dopey.

Indeed, it's Prince Chawmin' of "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarves"
It's not so much that So White falls for Dopey--he's the one who brings her back to life after the Prince's kiss fails to do so.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now here's one that I've held back on for quite a while:

    1. I start out as a bad guy with an incredibly long name.

    2. Eventually, I go to the right side of the law, along with a martial artist, a talking dog in charge of humans, and an ordinary cop.

    3. Both the martial artist and I had our episodes pulled due to stereotyping.

Obviously, this refers to the 1961 series The Dick Tracy Show produced by UPA. The martial artist would be Joe Jitsu, who still hewed shamefully close to World War II Asian parody characters. The other horribly overdone character is Go Go Gomez, a Central American parody character. Let me take a guess here, and speculate that this is Go Go Gomez, whose name was shortened for Tracy's convenience. Perhaps his formal name runs closer to Tito's from Disney's Oliver & Company: "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Ignacio Alonzo Julio Frederico de Tito." One of those deals. :)

OUB, you nailed it again. Good job. :)

Although all three clues are self-explanatory, I'll state for the record that Gomez's full name is Manuel Tijuana Guadalajara Tampico "Go Go" Gomez, Jr.

So the ball's in your court once again.

Incredible; I'd just gone to butter some toast, and *poof* there's a response. Dang, let me have some breakfast, and I'll supply a fresh Mystery Character. :O

Ah, that was a nice breakfast. Even got a little shopping done. :) Now for a fresh Mystery Character, from a source that's been tapped only once so far.

    1) This character has appeared only once to date in a completely animated feature film. He survives to the end of the story, though many others weren't so lucky.

    2) It happened that this character and a squad of heroes were away from home when disaster struck, bringing death and desolation to their homeland.

    3) Fair Play Rule time: this character is not human. He speaks English, walks upright, reads books, uses tools and even practices herbal medicine, but not actually human.

Well, that gets the cryptic clues out of the way. Time for the temperate clues.

    4) This character seems to have a knack for dodging doom. As a young 'un, he and his sister managed to escape the horrible fate that befell their parents. Yes, he's an orphan, but he nonetheless survives intact.

    5) Though this character isn't a parent as far as the audience can tell, he does have charge of a child. And he suffers horribly because of this guardianship.

    6) Jodi Benson provides both the speaking voice and the singing voice of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid. Likewise, the same voice actor provides both the speaking and singing voice for this character.

    Lastly the cupcake clues.

    7) Debuted in theaters on Friday 18 June 1993

    8) This one's filed under Hanna-Barbera, though other studios were involved.

    9) Blame Canada, Toronto specifically. :p

Now to put icing on these cupcake clues. It's Cornelius, from "Once Upon A Forest."

Yup, that's the icing, all right. I think all the clues answer themselves now that the character and the animated feature have been identified. Thanks for not adding to my ugly pile of unsolved's; that's good for a +1, EI. :)

Thanks, OUB. Now for one that's been untapped with a capital U:

    1. Like most women from my studio, I'm a devoted wife and mother. The wife of the title character, as a matter of fact.

    2. Oddly, my animated series aired during two consecutive summers, when the sport isn't even played.

    3. I have to put up with a guy who calls my hubby and his team mates savages.

Again, only three more clues, since that's all I got left:

    4. My series had a mere ten episodes, but that was enough.

    5. My voice actress also voiced the wife and mother I'm modeled after.

    6. My daughter is named for something used by cheerleaders.
