    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

No-- but Saltyboot did come the closest so I am letting her choose the next character.
The character in question is actually Black Hat from Villainous.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3wdXO651Po&t=1s&index=35&list=FLgnYYDKk9p_6ZD5J5XLb3
The internet loves these shorts a lot. There is fanart of these characters all over the place.
    1. These shorts seem to have appeared on the South American side of Cartoon Network. When they first showed up on youtube--they were in Spanish with English subtitles, although there is an English dub of these shorts too.
    2. As mentioned before, these shorts are immensely popular. Here's hoping it becomes a tv show.
    3. Exactly what it sounds like--Black Hat is often talking in front of a video camera to potential evil buyers.
    4. Invader Zim and Evil Con Carne because the shorts focus on the villains--and there is a lot of warped humor.
    5. The scientist is Dr. Flug, the fangirl is Dementia, and the bear is 5.0.5.
    6. self explanatory
    7. Black Hat is obviously some kind of Eldritch Abomination due to all the body horror he can do to himself.
    8. MarkPlier voices 5.0.5.
    9. Alan Iturial, the creator of Villainous voices Black Hat in both the Spanish and English dubs

Ok, then. Here's what I came up with.

I ignore a warning from my mother.
I sneak out of the house to get an early start.
I, the hunter, became the hunted.

Fievel Mousekewicz from Don Bluth's An American Tail? His mother warns him not to go out while the Cossacks are loose, but Fievel ignores this warning and tries to shoo them away with a cooking pot and spoon. Then he sees just how big and nasty these Cossack cats are: World War I ace meets Imperial Cruiser. Fievel Screams Like A Little Girl and bugs out for dear life.

Nope, Fievel is not the character I had in mind.

    Three more.

    My prey saves my life.
    My short is banned.
The title is a play on an old proverb.

    Ok, last three.

My predator has big green eyes.
In the end of the short, he thinks he was stabbed.
The little guy I was hunting wears red shorts.

Hopefully, this bonus clue will help.

This 1940 cartoon is banned for racial stereotype.

Well, I never saw this one, but I was able to find it by luck. It's the youngest blackbird, from "The Early Worm Gets The Bird."

    Sorry it took so long.

Yes, it's the youngest blackbird. His mother warns the chicks about the fox with "big green eyes."
The youngest wakes up early to catch the worm, but later runs into the fox.
After the worm saves the chick, the fox gets ketchup on himself, and thinks he's bleeding.

Thanks, Salty. Now here's another good set of clues:

    1. We're always in the water.

    2. Our protector isn't human.

    3. Another of our animal friends shares his name with an iconic mystery-solving dog who came along two years later.

Aha, Tom and Tub from Hanna-Barbera's Moby Dick series. Two boys in scuba suits, the ultimate in Free Range Children, go bubbling around the seas finding all kinds of dangers, from which the mighty whale Moby rescues them. The boys also get a tagalong seal named Scooby.

Nice. :) And it's Fixing Time again. If one guy gets a mention, then his teammate deserves one, too.

    1) This character began life in comics books, and has been adapted into animated series and feature films.

    2) This character is human. Doesn't look it, but that's how he started out. There was some weird stuff that messed with his complexion, but it's still the same ol' Good Guy inside.

    3) We've already tapped The Smart Guy on the team as a Mystery Character. This fellow is The Big Guy on the team.

I'll bet ten to one it's Ben Grimm/The Thing.

"It's Clobberin' Time!" Yes, this is Ben Grimm of the Fantastic Four. Reed Richards has had his moment in the spotlight, so it's Ben's time now. :) Good deducing, Em.

Thanks, OUB. Now for some clues about a newbie:

    1. I'm a nonhuman female with a male name.

    2. I start out as the protagonist's trainer.

    3. However, during the climactic race, I'm the one who ends up back on the track.

    Last three clues:

    4. I was absent from the first two movies.

    5. I'm yellow, while my trainee is red.

    6. My movie was number one, but was run off the cinematic road by some Transformers.

Somehow, I missed this one, so I had to go Yahooing. This is newcomer Cruz Ramirez from Pixar's Cars 3, being mentored by Piston Cup veteran Lightning McQueen.

Yes, it's Cruz Ramirez. Good job, OUB. :)
You may pick the next one. You know, before I saw the movie, I did think she was male.
