    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

I'll take it. Here I go with these clues:

    1. I'm a unicorn with a busted horn.

    2. I have a stormy name that may make you think of a Shakespeare play.

    3. My adversary shares her name with a successful movie franchise.

    Three more clues:

    4. I invade a multihorse town.

    5. I arrive on a ship.

    6. At the end of the movie, I become a friend.

Oh, then this must be Tempest from the new Pony animated film. She arrives to conquer Canterlot, but the Mane Six, led by Twilight Sparkle, monkey-wrench (pony-wrench?) that scheme. Derived from Shakespeare's The Tempest and that Edward Cullen version of a vampire from the Twilight franchise. I'd have to concur with Pip on this one: http://www.collectedcurios.com/sequentialart.php strip 657. If your vampires make teenie-bops coo and ovulate, You're Doing It Wrong; if your vampires make teenie-bops cringe and scream, you're doing it right.

OUB, you're right again. I was able to see that movie, and loved it. Good job. :). You're up again.

Oh, lookee here: how did we miss this one? It's fixing time! Try to pretend I can say that with Ben Grimm's voice.

    1) This character occurs in a regularly televised animated series that's no longer in production.

    2) Her comic book origin is still solvent, and technically, the studio that produced her cartoon series exists, though it's been assimilated and rebranded.

    3) And she's no second fiddle, either. This character gets title billing, and all the goodies that go with it. Of course, on her budget, the pickings aren't that glamorous, but at least her boyfriend is cute.

    Intermediate clues time.

    4) This character is a musician for a living, going on tour and playing gigs. Thwarting villains is a sideline that probably doesn't pay much.

    5) Out of this character's five associates, two are competent and capable, while the other three are ... not quite. Being a sensible girl, she plays the hand she's been dealt.

    6) This character is human, 100%. The ears and the tail are costume bits, not body parts.

Aha! Should have known this from the beginning. It's Josie, from "Josie And The Pussycats."

Yes, this is Josie, from the Hanna-Barbera series, taken on license from Archie Comics. We've tapped almost all the Josie And The Pussycats characters, but somehow missed Josie herself. Corrected under Fixing Time Policy. Bravo, Em, for not leaving Josie abandoned in Bangkok.

Thanks, OUB. Now to move along with this character:

    1. My appearance in the special is brief, but memorable.

    2. My reaction to the title character is to swallow my whistle. I also do it when I meet his wife.

    3. In the end, I march down the street with the rest of the cast.

    Three more clues:

    4. I'm the only human adult mentioned in the original song.

    5. The special is cel-animated, unlike many others from the studio.

    6. It was also the last one produced in the 1960's.

    Thanks!

I appear once in a movie where I attend a convention.
I clone myself many, many times.
The original me dies on screen.

    Three more.

This convention is rather shady. Full of bad people.
    I was showing my invention.
Someone offered to be my henchman, but since I cloned myself I didn't need one.

The one who offered to be my henchman is small and yellow.
My clones are actually a bunch of me's from the future. So when I died, all of the future me's disappeared.
(sorry, I messed up on the clone part)

Somehow, I missed seeing this one when it came to theaters. Shame on me. But now, it's clear that the henchmen are Minions, which means their boss must be Scarlet Overkill. Thankfully, the trailers for this animated feature didn't spoil anything. The audience is shown that Scarlet is ambitious, ruthless, and straight-up evil, but her methods and objectives remain unknown. So, Scarlet aims to Rule The World by cloning herself into a voting majority, eh? Well, I've heard nuttier mechanisms for world domination. An Illumination Entertainment production.

It's not Scarlet Overkill, she was already on the list and there's nothing in it that involves cloning.
This one has me stumped truthfully.

Nope, it's not Scarlet. It's the right movie though. These have to be my last set.

My invention is a time machine.
I wear a traditional lab coat and gloves.
I only appear for a minute or two in the convention scene.

Can't let this guy go unguessed. It's Professor Flux, from "Minions."
