    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

    More clues.
    4. I'm the latest addition to a movie franchise that consists of three movies--and a spinoff/prequel story.
    5. I'm not a very important character to this movie--but I am cute and cuddly so there's obviously lots of merchandise featuring me.
    6. The more important characters introduced to this film are the evil villain who's stuck in the 80s and the long lost twin brother--yes they went with that trope.

    9. Did I mention that a bunch of little yellow guys run amok in this movie?

Say, didn't little Agnes win a toy unigoat as a prize in the first movie? Y'know, when Gru used the Obliterator to knock over the clay bottles? She wanted that stuffed toy prize so badly, and it had one horn on its forehead, and wings, too. Or am I getting senile again?

Thanks, Glowworm. Now for clues about one who's been long overlooked:

    1. I'm a pretty redhead.

    2. Most of the time, I go off with the handsome blonde male.

    3. The actress who voiced me the longest is now deceased.

It was a unicorn--no wings--Agnes actually sells the unicorn in the third movie because Gru and Lucy lose their jobs. Such a sweet little girl.

    Three more clues:

    4. I was written out from 1980-83.

    5. My first voice actress also voiced a princess threatened by a Grump.

    6. I was also proactive when seeking 13 ghosts.

First one of the year, eh? No pressure or anything. Fortunately, there's still the Public Domain, so it's into that old steamer trunk that I go a-digging.

    1) This character began life in old fairy tales, codified by the Brothers Grimm, and likely occurring earlier than that.

    2) This character is so old and renowned that he's Public Domain; anyone anywhere can use him safely. Walt Disney Animation has fielded him, as has Warner Brothers Animation, and likely a few others.

    3) It's really iffy whether this character qualifies as human or not. He's usually drawn around a humanoid model. And if you believe "you are what you eat," then that'd make him human, by golly.

    Intermediate clues time.

    4) Clouds are water vapor suspended in air. There's no way to build anything on them; it'll fall through. Somehow this guy never got that memo, and neither did his cloud.

    5) This character is a bad neighbor, somehow visiting the kingdom / province / hamlet / whatever and filching nifty and valuable items for himself. The hero of the story routinely burgles this burglar.

    6) TV Tropes lists this character under Everyone Calls Him Barkeep, because he's rarely given a name, simply going by his most prominent feature.

Yes, the Giant is precisely who this Mystery Character is, from Jack And The Beanstalk by the Brothers Grimm, and likely occuring even earlier in folk tales. Good solving, EmeraldIsle! :D

Thanks, OUB. Now to go once again with an untapped character:

    1. I'm named after the fastest cat on Earth.

    2. My enemy is female, like me.

    3. I was first animated 40 years ago.

Oh, could this be Cheetara of the Thundercats? The original series that transpires on Third Earth against the undead baddie Mumm-Ra? I know they later rebooted it, and nerfed the character dynamics.

No, it isn't Cheetara. Remember, I said 40 years ago. Thundercats is only 33 years old.

    Three more clues:

    4. Like the other twelve bad guys, I started out in DC Comics.

    5. I was brought in as a replacement for another feline villainess.

    6. In the series finale, my evil team mates and I bring about our own destruction, only for the events to be altered.

    Last three clues:

    7. My hideout is located in a swamp.

    8. It was also modeled after Darth Vader's helmet.

    9. Befitting my name, I wear a spotted costume.
