The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

Well, this glorb has the answer now. It's Darwin, from "G-Force."

Ah, at last, it almost seemed like I'd hallucinated that whole film. Yes, EmeraldIsle, this is Darwin the guinea pig from Disney + Bruckheimer's G-Force. Darwin, Blaster and Juarez are the guinea pigs, Speckles is the star-nosed mole and Mooch is the housefly. Collectively, they act like a Mission: Impossible team to infiltrate and glean intel on Silberware's Clusterstorm Project. G-Force plays a lot like an updated version of That Darned Cat.

Well, many thanks and a shining +1 to EmeraldIsle for naming the Mystery Character, and providing proof that I haven't (yet) gone insane.

Thanks, OUB. Now for a real, totally untapped virgin vein:

1. My parents are conspicuously absent from the series.

2. I learn astronomical data from my intellectual big brother.

3. My show, in fact, aired during the peak years of the space program, and was even sanctioned by NASA itself.

I'm running short on clues for this one, so these last three will have to do:

4. Like another series from a couple of years earlier, mine shows live action films to deliver the lesson of the day.

5. The title of my show is printed on a huge book.

6. The opening has me and my bro traveling through space, and even underwater.

Can't believe I'm the only one who remembers this. The answer is Little Adam, from "The Big World Of Little Adam." I'll explain the clues to clear things up:

1. The boys' parents are never seen in the series.

2. Adam learns about outer space and more from his older brother Wilbur.

3. The show premiered in 1964, and was off by sometime in the early '70's.

4. Like "The Funny Company," this show had live action films between the animated parts.

5. Self-explanatory.

6. Self-explanatory again.

Since this one turned out to be a genuine toughie, I'll let someone else take a turn instead of posting a new character.

Yeah, I haven't heard of this one. I also didn't come across it in my research. Oh well.

News to me, too. I know some Hanna-Barbera characters piped in for CBS's In The News vignettes, but Adam and Wilbur come from left field for me.

Yeah, I decided on him for no reason other than that was untapped.

Offhand, I'd defer to Glowworm, who has posed 226 Mystery Characters, and correctly identified 222, a difference of +4.
Saltyboot has posed 187 characters and identified 179, a difference of +8.
Oneuglybunny has posed 122 characters and identified 113, a difference of +9.
Peterhale has posed 132 characters and identified 123, a difference of +9.
FluidGirl has posed 68 characters and identified 58, a difference of +10.

The disparity is largely due to Unguessed Characters. Although anyone who keeps things rolling along is good by me.

OK, I put together a character, so I'll go ahead a post the clues.

I appeared once in a short.
I have a powerful sniffer.
I chase a certain rabbit around in a circus.

Nero the lion from Acrobatty Bunny.

Yep, that's it. Easy peasy.

Nero appeared once in Acrobatty Bunny.
His sniffing was so strong that Bugs got sucked up the rabbit hole.
Nero chased Bugs into the circus tent.

Yeah, good short too.
1. I am the king of the jungle, but I'm not respected by the others.
2. To prove myself, I go out to kill something small and simple.
3. A phone call from my wife saves my prey's life at the end of the short.

This is the lion from the 1951 cartoon Hold The Lion, Please, directed by Charles M Jones. The lion has Bugs Bunny pinned to the ground, ready for the coup de grace, when a phone rings, and the lion's wife demands him to return home pronto. This is also the first and only appearance of Mrs. Bugs Bunny. I think the lioness's name is Hortense, but as far as I know, the lion himself goes unnamed.

I love the line the lion says to Bugs, "I'm sorry I can't stay and kill ya."

The lion may be called Leo--I'm not certain, but yes it is the lion from "Hold the Lion, Please." It is coincidental that I chose another lion character as I've been thinking of using this one for a while.

Also, I love the joke where the lion is ready to pounce on Bugs in his carrot garden, and when caught, pretends to swim.

Even though Chuck Jones is credited as director for that cartoon, I'm seeing some Tex Avery tweaks in it. I know the two men were friends, part of a circle of comics who'd bat loony ideas around like playful kittens. Anyway, here's an untapped vein:

1) This character is a recurring antagonist in a regularly televised cartoon series, no longer in production.

2) The same luckless predator versus immaculate prey mechanism as in the coyote versus roadrunner cartoons drives this character's comedy. However, there are two key differences: the predator is articulate, often using guile and deceit upon his target; and the prey doesn't so much escape as summon a personal bodyguard to dispose of the threat.

3) Perhaps you've heard this before: center square.

OUB, it's no-brainer for this Hanna-Barbera buff. The answer is Mildew Wolf.

1. He was seen in the "It's The Wolf'" segment of "The Catanooga Cats."

2. He was quite articulate, and invariably disposed of by Bristol Hound.

3. He was voiced by Paul Lynde, natch.
