    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

Yes, he did have a name. He was also referred to as "The Youngest Son" but in the stop motion movie, his name was Pyotr.
I looked it up on YouTube and watched it. Was Ivan his name in the original story? Because I looked around and the only name I found for him was Pyotr.

In any case, you guessed the correct character and the turn is yours.

Thanks, Saltyboot. Now I have one that will be relatively simple:

    1. I'm one of two friends of the protagonist other than the pony.

    2. I have a rather sharp name.

    3. Given my friendly nature, I'd be a poor choice for Jurassic Park/Jurassic World.

Looks like three more clues are in order:

    4. I'm molded from yellow clay.

    5. My name begins with the same letter as the aforementioned pony.

    6. In one memorable episode, I'm mistaken for a dragon--and my mom arrives to intervene and prove I'm not one.

Well, I remembered Gumby and Pokey as Sunday morning fare, since Captain Kangaroo only ran on weekdays. But Prickle escaped me until I looked up Art Clokey's characters. Prickle the yellow dinosaur and Goo the fish-girl are two supporting characters in the Gumby universe.

OUB, you nailed it well. Prickle it is. All clues are self-explanatory, so you get another turn, my fellow Gumbyphile. Good job. :)

Nifty. :) So I need a Mystery Character who's largely self-explanatory as well. Oooh, this one will do nicely. :D

    1) This character has appeared in every episode of a regularly televised animated series, classic Saturday morning fare.

    2) Always in a hurry to get somewhere, this character never gets a speeding ticket. Of course, he has a good excuse ...

    3) This character is an inventor. Darned good one, too. Take a look at some of the gadgets and devices around your home: you'll find his name embossed on goodly number of them. :)

Well, guess it's up to me to supply the answer: Pat Pending, from "The Wacky Races."

    1. Like all the other racers, he was in every episode of this great series.

    2. It was a show devoted to auto racing, so naturally, he was in a hurry to get to the finish line.

    3. His name's a takeoff on Patent Pending, often seen on newly-invented devices. And he did invent gizmos for his car.

Absolutely, this is the peculiar Professor Pat Pending, driver of the Convert-A-Car, the #3 entrant in the Wacky Races. Nice enough fellow, I suppose, though he seems to bend toward Mad Scientist territory. Ah well, EmeraldIsle has rightly identified another Mystery Character, adding a new +1 to the leaderboard, and takes control of the gameboard. Well done, EI. :)

Thanks, OUB. Time for another simple one:

    1. My name speaks of sheer adventure.

    2. I always accompany the title heroine--a blonde hottie if ever there was one.

    3. although I'm mostly a reporter for her paper, I'm also the one who comes up with ways to outsmart the bad guys.

Brick lobbing time: Ron Stoppable, sidekick to Disney Television's Kim Possible? His name is a rough homophone of "unstoppable," Kim is approximately blonde and very much a hottie. (Just what color is that hair anyway? Tawny? Ecru? Mud-rassler blonde?) I'm not sure if Ron works for the school newspaper, though that would be a good way to get the skinny on breaking developments. :)

No, OUB. Hate to say it, but it's isn't Ron Stoppable. There may be three more clues tomorrow.

    Three more clues:

    4. My friend is a golden girl in name only.

    5. The paper I work for is a takeoff on a widely read financial newspaper.

    6. Attach son to my name, and you get a hero played by Carl Weathers.

I really thought this one would be a no-brainer. The answer is "Action" Jack Travis, from "Goldie Gold And Action Jack."

The first four clues are self-explanatory. As for the last two, Jack was a reporter for The Gold Street Journal. And Action Jackson was the protagonist of a movie starring Carl Weathers. So it looks like I go again. I'll have a fresh new character before the day is over.

To make up for posting a toughie, I now present these clues:

    1. From 1968-1978, I was both the title character and the frontman of my band.

    2. In addition to scoring one of the biggest hits of 1969, I've also introduced comic strip characters, taught American history lessons, and solved weird mysteries.

    3. The purpose of my many animated series was to make kids forget about superheroes.

Aw, poor Glowworm. Tell you what: I'll answer this one, give you the credit, then supply the next Mystery Character to keep the game going. :)

The answer is Archibald Andrews, the red-head flagship character of Archie Comics, adapted by Filmation Studios into The Archie Show. Oddly, the Archies band: Archie on lead guitar, Reggie Mantle on bass guitar, "Jughead" Jones on drums, Veronica Lodge on keyboards and Betty Cooper on tambourine, topped the Billboard chart with "Sugar Sugar" in 1969. A parallel series, Archie's Sunday Funnies, fielded a series of comic strip characters (mostly very old ones that had fallen into the public domain) doing spur-of-the-moment gags.

You are so kind, oneuglybunny--sometimes when the answers come to me, I am completely unprepared to come up with a character, and I really don't want to drag the game out too long causing others to wait for me.
Yes, this is most definitely Archie--as I generally call him.

OUB, you really nailed it this time. That's exactly who it is and for all the reasons listed. Except that the comic strip show was called "Archie's TV Funnies." So now you get to set off the fireworks with the next character. Good job. :)

Better get a new character up, pronto. :) Ah, here's one ...

    1) This character has appeared only once to date in an animated feature film. She could recur, since she survives to the end of the film.

    2) Yes, this character is a girl. And human, let's make that clear. Not a very good role model, though, because of her criminal tendencies.

    3) This character doesn't appear on screen until about the one-quarter point. She's fleeing from law enforcement, hot on her heels.
