    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

I definitely have the answer, but since I'm somewhat over my posting limit, I'll let someone else guess.

This sounds like Mike Wazowski, from Monsters Inc. The movie was released on 11/2/01, and he was in Monsters U and in a short, Mike's New Car. He works in a utility company, and wants to be seen in the media. Although just parts of him are seen in the pictures.

It sounds like Mike Wazowski because this is Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. He followed up that debut with Mike's New Car, then the feature Monsters U. "I'm on TV!" Good memory, SaltyBoot, it gives you a fresh +1 and control of the game board. :)

Thanks! I finally have a character ready.

I appeared in a movie and a short.
I get separated from my rider.
I am determined to find my arch nemesis.

Could this be Bullseye the horse, long lost trusty steed to Sheriff Woody, from Pixar's Toy Story 2? One of many toys determined to thwart the thievish Al of Al's Toy Barn? Or am I horribly off target ... again?

Sorry, but you're a bit off target. But just a bit. You're on the right track. Here are the next three.

    I'm in the royal army.
I do surprisingly well in swordplay.
Because of the heroine, I reluctantly agree to a truce with my nemesis.

Oh! Then this is Maximus the stallion from Disney's Tangled. Maximus must be from the same bloodline as Achilles from Hunchback. Note to kings everywhere: your kingdom might be highly invade-worthy when the horses are smarter and more capable than your soldiers.

Yes, it is Maximus from Tangled. [thumbup]

The short he's in is, Tangled Ever After.
His nemesis is Flynn, who he makes a truce with for Rapunzel.
Maximus and Flynn get into a sword fight.

    Take it away OUB!

Nifty. Now, where to take it? Ah, of course, to a November premiere.

    1) This character first appeared in an animated feature film on Friday 5 November. Though not one of the main characters, he does play a significant supporting role.

    2) The whole time, this character remains firmly in Good Guy territory. This includes a brief period when he was sought by the police.

    3) At some point, this character got married; we don't actually see the wedding or anything like that. However, events at the climax of the film hint that this marriage is in trouble, if not dissolved altogether.

Oh dear, then I'd better help you ice this one pronto.

    4) Though not a military man, this character has that "old Army buddy" dynamic with the main character.

    5) Yes, this character is human. And then some.

    6) "I wanted to go bowling."

If no one else has the answer, I do. I'll admit I looked up the "I wanted to go bowling." quote to find the answer. It's Frozone from The Incredibles. Although I have seen the movie, it has been a while--and I kind of got thrown off by the "possibly dissolved marriage" clue. From what I remembered, Frozone mainly argued with his wife (who was never shown)--but more for comedy effect than a possible marriage on the rocks. ("You tell me where my suit is, woman!")

Yes, I was cluing about Frozone from Brad Bird's The Incredibles. The wife's last line is: "I am your wife; I am the greatest good you are ever gonna get!" There is no reasoning with someone that far gone. So, how'd Frozone appear in a Big Darn Heroes moment, in uniform? The best fan theory: Frozone played the Turnabout card: he dove into her closet of nice dresses and started encrusting them in ice. After the fourth or fifth outfit was ruined, she flung his Frozone suit at him ... then, once he'd gone out the door, put the city's leading divorce lawyer on speed-dial. That suit was about the only thing he got to keep after the break-up.

But, never mind this moribund rambling. Glowworm correctly identified the Mystery Character, and gets her 251st +1, plus control of the board. For the record, The Incredibles debuted on Friday 5 November 2004.

    1. I am on the lam from the cops.
    2. That doesn't make me safe from a traveling sales man though.
    3. No matter how many times I toss him out, he keeps getting back in.

Yes. Slug McSlug robs the Last National Bank and does everything he can to evade the police--then Daffy shows up and attempts to sell him stuff.
