    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

Nice choice. :) Now it falls to me to find a worthwhile character. Okay, let's give this part of the UCL some love for a change.

    1) This character has appeared only once to date in a completely animated feature film. No live actors in this one. Humans, yes; live ones, no.

    2) In the story, this character is The Villain, no doubt. Pure bad guy, slimy and contemptible, through and through. He gets a pair of dumb mooks shortly after his prison break, but even these goofballs can't stomach that much evil, and they bail on this villain.

    3) And this's one tough old baddie. While marking time in his prison, the place gets reduced to pieces and scraps. And he walks it off. Fortunately, the good guys build him a new prison to live in, but not until the end of the film.

I was wondering when this fellow was going to be used. This is Hexxus from Ferngully the Last Rainforest.

*laughs out loud* Yes, this is Hexxus, the shapeshifting embodiment of vileness, toxicity and decay. Fai Films' Ferngully The Last Rainforest has this villain imprisoned within a gnarled tree, until lumbermen Ralph and Tony cut down the tree and reduce it to lumber and sawdust with their sawmill-on-treads, the Leveler. Hexxus poses as their boss, and orders them to advance upon the heart of the rainforest: Ferngully. Ralph and Tony comply, until they get an eyeful of who's in charge. The pair of goofballs bug out in horror, leaving Hexxus to run the juggernaut.

And, if I remember rightly, Glowworm used to have a crush on this character back in 1992. (Old grunk memory.) No shame in that, though, since the deliciously wicked voice of Tim Curry gave this villain his Ugly Cute charm. So, I'll give you a fresh "help it grow" +1, and control of the board. :D

Oh geez, oneuglybunny, stop remembering my crushes! :shame: It wasn't so much of a crush as it was an amusing realization--as a kid, if a character was voiced by Tim Curry, it was terrifying--because it was Tim Curry. Sure enough as a kid, I was pretty disgusted with Hexxus--why is this disgusting pollution thing ruining this movie? However, as an adult, if a character was voiced by Tim Curry, well--it sounded pretty sexy because hey, it was Tim Curry. I was revisiting his song back in college to see if I was still terrified of this villain and to my surprise--and slight embarrassment, I found myself attracted to this slimy pollution spirit. It's definitely Curry's voice--and it really doesn't help that as an adult I can suddenly detect how much he really seems to *ahem* "love" that leveler. (There is a LOT of moaning and laughter in this song, and the original uncut version of the song features the line "I feel good, a special kind of horny" Go figure.)

Anyhow, enough of that silly rant, here's one I've been thinking about lately.
    1. I appear in a one shot pilot episode that never evolved into the full show my creator anticipated.
    2. However, another pilot episode featuring a bunch of kids battling adults did successfully spawn a cartoon series.
    3. I ironically have the same name as another cartoon character that keeps dying. I don't die, but I am in a rather hazardous situation, and my partner does not make it any easier for me.

Didn't take long to find this one. It's Kenny, from "Kenny And The Chimp In Diseasy Does It! Or Chimp-N-Pox."

Correct--Emeraldisle--this is Kenny from "Kenny And The Chimp In Diseasy Does It! Or Chimp-N-Pox."
    1. Kenny and the Chimp were meant to become a tv series, but they never became more than an unsuccessful pilot by their creator, Tom Warburton.
    2. However, Codename Kids Next Door--originally meant to be secondary characters Kenny would constantly run into, did become a tv series. Their pilot episode was called "No P in the Ool" and won a viewer pick to become a series.
    3. Kenny of course shares his name with a more famous Kenny from South Park. "Oh my G-d! They killed Kenny!" Fortunately, Kenny is spared the other Kenny's unfortunate fate of constantly dying. Unfortunately, Kenny is stuck working for Professor XXL in his laboratory of horribly dangerous diseases with his chimp, Chimpy. Chimpy, of course just wanders around and wrecks havoc to the lab.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now here's a good one:

    1. I'm the father of the title character.

    2. You could say he, his mom, and I are all cut from the same cloth, or in this case, clay.

    3. My first appearance has me setting out to rescue my boy when he ends up in trouble on the moon.

    Excellent.

At first I am seemingly innocent.
I actually have a big heist in mind.
However, I need a victim to help pull it off.

    OK, next three.

Contrary to my “wanted” poster, I am not a chicken.
In the end, I end up in an unconventional jail cell.
My stopmotion short film won an Academy Award.

    Yep, that is correct.

Feathers plans to steal a diamond at a museum.
He uses Wallace and his tecno trousers to do the heist.
He wears a rubber glove on his head to disguise himself as a chicken.
His jail cell is at the zoo.

    All yours emeraldisle. [thumbup]

Great choice of character, Saltyboot. Now for some news: the hard drive that used to track all the questions and answers in this game has crashed, badly. Normally, I can fish the useful stuff out of these derelict things, but not this time. It's capital-K kaput. Fortunately, the most recent scores are loaded to "the cloud," which is my DeviantArt account. I'm using that until I can reconstruct the spreadsheet that tracked all the facts. So, keep an eye on your scores, and hope I don't miss any. So far, here's what I've got:

Scores as of Thread 4 Post 1774:

    Arthur has 4 points,
    Damfine has 4 points,
    Emeraldisle has 368 points,
    Eminovitz has 2 points,
    FluidGirl has 58 points,
    Glowworm has 267 points,
    IronCookuru has 121 points,
    Mreiof has 12 points,
    Oneuglybunny has 157 points,
    PatrickRsGhost has 13 points,
    Peterhale has 150 points,
    Rollo has 11 points,
    Saltyboot has 213 points,
    Seiry has 2 points.

There were 47 unguessed characters, totaling 1429 characters used to date.
Actually, it's 1426 characters queried, since 3 characters were inadvertently duplicated.

I know there's a reserve hard drive somewhere that has most of the old tracking sheet on it; gimme time, nice peoples, I'll get my sorry tail back on the rails.

Thanks, Salty, and will do, OUB. Now here's another relatively simple one:

    1. My animated series is 30 years old come September.

    2. I find a baby of royal blood on my doorstep--though I don't realize it at the time.

    3. My true identity is revealed when I join forces with the title character--who, incidentally, is unrelated to a classic Michael Murphy song.

You place first with that answer, Pete. Good job. :)

    1. "Wildfire" premiered in 1986.

    2. When she was just a baby, Princess Sara was left on John's doorstep by Wildfire.

    3. In the episode "Where The Dreams Come From," John is revealed to be Prince Cavan when Sara is captured by the Spectres. He and Wildfire team up to rescue her.

    So you go again.

    1) I am a good-time girl. My friend wants me to reform - but when I do, I can no longer associate with lowlife like him. Of course, it does not last.
    2) I claim to be a good mother, but in the end I'm just not the maternal type.
    3) I don't regret my past and, cheerio my deario, there's life in me yet.
