    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing.

Hate to say it, but I'm not too keen on non-American animated movies. This doesn't sound like one I've seen in my lifetime.

Sadly, the first character was one I really didn't know much about. I've never really watched any Raggedy Ann and Andy animations, and only heard about the Christmas special a few months ago--complete with the Wile E. Coyote knockoff villain.

As for this one, so far, nothing has set off any sudden lightbulbs.

Still no idea. Then again, I'm not too familiar with non-American animations, either. There are some I know, but others, nada.

It is indeed Mr Jones - thanks for saving me from complete ignominy!
I am sorry my recent character choices have been so poor - I'll try harder in future.

That's okay, peterhale. I usually try to choose tricky characters on purpose (when I think of them) to see if I can actually stump you guys.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with your clue-giving, Peter Hale, and nothing at all wrong with selecting obscure characters. In fact, one of the delightful side-effects of this game involves shining the light of discovery on little-known, wayside, and forgotten animation. In my case, I had no idea there was anything more to Raggedy Ann than Raggedy Andy; obviously, that's dead wrong. Thanks to your choice of Mystery Character, I'm wiser now about Gruelle's legacy than before. Bravo! And Animal Farm is one animated work that I've been meaning to see, but haven't, so the shame is on me for foot-dragging, and none on you for being thorough. Here's wishing that you get more chances to pose Mystery Characters, since you're almost at the 100 mark for Correct Responses. :toast:

I have never seen Animal Farm, but your clues pointed me in the right direction peterhale. It was challenging, but I like a challenge. As for the Raggedy Arthur clues, I just didn't have a "magic word" that I could use to lead my research to a direction. No biggie.

    OK, here we go.

I want to be just like my Dad.

As a result, I disgraced my father's name and have been exiled.

That's right! It is Little Toot, from a segment of Melody Time.

He wants to do what his Dad does, and tried to tug a boat that his Father is tugging.
It caused the boat to crash on land.
As a result, Police boats escorted Toot out of town.

    You're up!

Thanks, Salty. Now here's one that shouldn't be too hard:

    1. I'm not a true villain, but I could be considered an antagonist.

    2. My dislike for my son-in-law began when he and his BFF pretended to be millionaires while working as bellboys at the hotel where they met my daughter, and her own BFF.

3, However, I did lighten up when my granddaughter, and future grandson-in-law entered the picture.

You got it, Fluidgirl. It certainly is Pearl Slaghoople. Now to explain:

    1. She's not a villainess by definition. But she does have an antagonistic relationship with Fred.

    2. Self-explanatory. Incidentally, of all the stories of how the couples met, that's the only one I've always gone by.

    3. When Pebbles was born, and Bamm-Bamm was adopted, she took on a traditional grandmother role, doting on them both.

So you're up once again, Fluidgirl. Good job! :)

Thank you. I never knew her name was Pearl. Anyway, here's one for you guys:

    1. I'm only seen in one episode

    2. I don't even have any lines

    3. I can be seen mostly riding around on the back of a character who has something in common with a song by America

Clue 3 points at "A Horse With No Name," so a character on horseback, a talking horse doubtless. Possibly a flea on Quickdraw's back, both riding him and munching on him. Or a character analogous to Spike from the "Friendship Is Magic" poniverse, except found in the first iteration series. Of course, this is guesswork. :bag:

Close, OUB. Here are some more clues.

    4. Like all of the characters in my franchise, I started out as a toy

    5. The character who came with the same playset as I did didn't make it into the cartoon

    6. I'm not easily noticed in my cartoon at first. I appear sporadically throughout the episode, including appearing with the rest of the cast at the very end.

PS: I do NOT do "Friendship is Magic," and I never will.
